Alfuzosin 10 mg is a prescription medication used in men to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate, a condition known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Primary Uses • Relieves BPH Symptoms: It improves lower urinary tract symptoms, such as a weak urine stream, difficulty starting or stopping urination, dribbling, and the urgent or frequent need to urinate, including waking up at night to go. • Relaxes Muscles: It acts as an alpha-blocker by relaxing the smooth muscles in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra, which makes it easier for urine to flow. • Note on Size: It does not actually shrink the size of the prostate gland. How to Take It • Dosage: Take one 10 mg extended-release tablet once daily. • With Food: Always take it immediately after the same meal each day. Do not take it on an empty stomach. • Swallow Whole: Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew, or split it. Common Side Effects • Dizziness or lightheadedness (especially when standing up quickly) • Headache • Fatigue or feeling tired • Upper respiratory tract infection
